This free crochet penguin pattern makes a round little penguin chick with a black head, a white heart-shaped face and a sky-blue scarf. The amigurumi penguin has soft grey flippers, rosy cheeks, a tiny orange beak and a pale belly, a cozy winter chick plushie. It stands about 11 cm (4.4 in) tall, worked in the round in single crochet with DK yarn and a 2.5 mm hook; head and belly are one piece, the face patch is a flat heart motif and the scarf is a ribbed ring with a short end. The page gives a row-by-row pattern with stitch counts and an interactive 3D model to check where every piece is sewn.

1 sc ≈ 4 mm wide, 1 round ≈ 3.6 mm tall (10 cm ≈ 25 sc × 28 rounds); yarn about 1.9 mm thick. The gauge sets the size of the toy; crochet tightly so the stuffing does not show.
Continuous spiral rounds. Don't join. Move a stitch marker up every round.
Safety eyes and noses go in before the piece is stuffed and closed (see the pieces above); embroidery is easier before the piece is sewn on.
