Cherries

Safety eyes and noses go in before the piece is stuffed and closed (see the pieces above); embroidery is easier before the piece is sewn on.

• Safety eyes with a printed glint 10 mm (on the cherry): between rounds 11 and 12, 6 st apart (count along round 11: about 2.8 st each side of the centre front line).
• Embroidery in dark brown thread (on the cherry), straight stitches through: (in round 10, 1 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right ) → (between rounds 9 and 10, 0.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right ) → (in round 9, on the centre front line ) → (between rounds 9 and 10, 0.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 10, 1 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ).
• Embroidery in dark brown thread (on the cherry) (2, symmetric: the toy's left side is described, the right is its mirror image), straight stitches through: (in round 11, 2 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 12, 2.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 12, 3 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 12, 3.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 11, 4 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ).
• Satin stitch (on the no. 3 cherry): in dark brown thread, a oval about 6 mm wide and 3.6 mm tall, horizontal stitches; centred between rounds 9 and 10, on the centre front line .
• Satin stitch (on the cherry): in white thread, a oval about 4.5 mm wide and 8.5 mm tall, horizontal stitches, turned 30° anticlockwise (looking at that surface); centred in round 15, 4 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right .
• Satin stitch (on the no. 3 cherry): in white thread, a oval about 4.5 mm wide and 8.5 mm tall, horizontal stitches, turned 30° anticlockwise (looking at that surface); centred in round 15, 4 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right .
