Safety eyes and noses go in before the piece is stuffed and closed (see the pieces above); embroidery is easier before the piece is sewn on.

• Safety eyes with a printed glint 13 mm (on the head): between rounds 13 and 14, 10 st apart (count along round 13: about 4.8 st each side of the centre front line).
• Satin stitch (on the head): in nose thread, a oval about 5.5 mm wide and 3.8 mm tall, horizontal stitches; centred between rounds 15 and 16, on the centre front line .
• Embroidery in brown thread (on the head), straight stitches through: (in round 16, on the centre front line ) → (between rounds 16 and 17, 0.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right ) → (in round 17, 1 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right ) → (between rounds 16 and 17, 1.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's right ).
• Embroidery in brown thread (on the head), straight stitches through: (in round 16, on the centre front line ) → (between rounds 16 and 17, 0.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 17, 1 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (between rounds 16 and 17, 1.5 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ).
• Strap (on the head) (2, symmetric: the toy's left side is described, the right is its mirror image): with band rose, ch 16 (≈ 4.7 cm); for a firmer strap sl st back along it. Sew it along (in round 13, 18 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 7, 11 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left ) → (in round 2, 3 st from the centre front line, toward the toy's left), catching it every 2–3 ch.
