A free crochet dolphin pattern for a smiling baby dolphin that lies on its belly with its tail flukes spread wide. This amigurumi dolphin is soft blue-grey with a white underside, a short rounded beak, a swept-back dorsal fin, two little flippers, big shiny eyes and pink cheeks. It is worked in the round in single crochet with DK yarn and a 2.5 mm hook and is about 15.5 cm (6 in) long and 8.5 cm (3.3 in) tall, with 12 mm safety eyes and the fins and beak sewn on. Follow it row by row with stitch counts and turn the interactive 3D model to see where every piece goes, a sweet summer gift for an ocean lover.

1 sc ≈ 4 mm wide, 1 round ≈ 3.6 mm tall (10 cm ≈ 25 sc × 28 rounds); yarn about 1.9 mm thick. The gauge sets the size of the toy; crochet tightly so the stuffing does not show.
Continuous spiral rounds. Don't join. Move a stitch marker up every round.
Safety eyes and noses go in before the piece is stuffed and closed (see the pieces above); embroidery is easier before the piece is sewn on.
